- Preliminary notice — in many states you must send notice of your work within weeks of first furnishing labor or materials, or you lose lien rights entirely.
- Lien filing — the deadline to record the lien itself, counted from your last day of work or project completion. Miss it and no lien exists.
- Enforcement — the deadline to file suit to foreclose the lien. Let it lapse and the recorded lien goes void.
